Darkness falls
on a sunless day
as the western breeze
carries raindrops east
The road glistens dark
the drops dangle down
from the rusty wire
on the broken post
Silent sheep stand
in sullen misery
heads drooping down
their fleeces soaked
The clouds tear
but the sun has set
darkness delayed
not postponed
